Clinical training modules for operating room personnel
What are AO Trauma clinical training modules for ORP?
They are highly interactive educational sessions of 2.5 to 3.5 hours each, delivered by an AO faculty. They support nurses, technicians, and operating room personnel (ORP) with their continuing nursing education at the point-of-care (hospital).
These modules are developed by the AO Trauma ORP education taskforce and are aligned with the AO Trauma curriculum for ORP. More information about the Curriculum and taskforce can be find here.
The content of CTMs can easily be tailored to the educational needs of the local participants. They are short, focused educational sessions, promoting reflection and discussion, featuring hands-on demonstrations and self-assessment of participants at the beginning and at the end of the training.
- If you are interested in CTMs as a participant, please reach out to an AO faculty in your hospital. In case you don't know any AO contact, we can support you in finding your local contact person. Please contact us at orp@aofoundation.org.
- If you are interested to run CTMs as AO faculty, please find more information below.

-
Who can organize an AO Trauma clinical training?
All AO faculty, who have completed the Faculty Education Program (FEP), can organize a clinical training at their hospital.

The target audience for CTMs is ORP from the hospital where the training is organized. ORP of neighboring hospitals may join the event.

Small groups of 8-20 participants are ideal. Larger groups do not provide the same opportunity for exchange and interaction between participants and between faculty and participants.

Teachers of a clinical training module are surgeons and ORP from the same hospital. The organizer of a clinical training must be an AO trained faculty member.

CTM 1 should be completed by all participants before additional modules are being taken. The other modules do not have to be delivered in any specific order.
-
In which language is the material provided?
Currently all modules are available in English. Additionally, several modules are available in Dutch, French, German, Greek, Russian, and Spanish.
