Don't miss this opportunity to help lead the AO Spine community into the future. For the position of AO Spine Community Development Commission Chairperson Elect, AO Spine seeks highly motivated individuals dedicated to sharing and encouraging ideas across professional and cultural boundaries.
The successful applicant will lead the AO Spine Community Development Commission and oversee and manage all activities of the commission. The applicant must be able to work in a multicultural environment with no travel restrictions and is expected to have the vision to lead and contribute to AO Spine in setting new standards and accomplishing our mission.
The term of office of current AO Spine Community Development chairperson ends on June 30, 2025. Therefore, AO Spine will begin the election process for the position and invites candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria to submit their applications using the application submission system.
The application portal for this role is open from Monday, December 4, 2023, until December 17, 2023, at 11:59 pm Central European Time (CET),
Eligibility criteria
To apply for this position, candidates must fulfill the requirements provided in the job description.
Election process
The AO Spine Nomination Committee will evaluate the applicants’ credentials and eligibility and establish a list of qualified candidates by January 7, 2024.
The list of qualified candidates will then be made available to the electorate which consists of:
- Voting members of the AO Spine International Board
- Voting members of any AO Spine Regional Board
Candidates running for election have no voting rights.
Members of the electorate will be invited to submit their votes (a single electronic vote by secret ballot) starting on January 8, 2024. Runoffs will take place and candidates with the least votes are eliminated in each round until one candidate has achieved more than 50 percent of all votes.
The successful candidate will be confirmed in March 2024, after the AO Foundation Board meeting. The elected chair-elect is expected to assume the post in from July 1, 2024.
From July 1, 2025–June 30, 2028, they will serve a single three-year term as AO Spine Community Development Chairperson and as member of the AO Spine International Board.
