Dr Jacek K. Wychowaniec is currently a Marie Curie Research Fellow (Research Scientist) at AO Research Institute (ARI) Davos, member of the Biomedical Materials group. He finished his PhD at the University of Manchester (UK, 2017) working on “Designing nanostructured peptide hydrogels containing graphene oxide and its derivatives for tissue engineering and biomedical applications”. Subsequently Jacek was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin (UCD, Ireland) working on designing printable and magnetically responsive bio-inks, 3D printing technologies and organoids growth for innovative healthcare applications. He is also an expert in early-stage commercialization and contributed to procuring over £1.4 mln in commercial grants for 2 start-ups: AEH Innovative Hydrogels Ltd. (UK) and LiveMatrix Biotech (Chile) and recently contributed to designing next generation magnetic beads for enhanced viral RNA detection and improved COVID19 testing.
Since joining ARI in 2021, Jacek started his Individual Marie Curie Fellowship (EU Horizon 2020) on ImmunoBioInks. In ARI, he is building-up his own research-lines based on the core physical chemistry expertise in developing structured biomaterials and processing technologies (including flow-based processes and additive manufacturing technologies) towards innovative biomedical applications, with an ultimate goal for next generation sustainable healthcare. His expertise lies in translating and linking fundamental behaviour of materials towards programmed functions. Jacek is also a very active member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Materials Research Society (MRS) and European Society of Biomaterials (ESB) and organized multiple symposia over the past 3 years promoting international networking.
