SYNJECT Cement Delivery System
The SYNJECT Cement Delivery System (CDS) is a hydraulic-based system used for delivering VERTECEM V+ bone cement during vertebral body augmentation procedures. It received approval from the AO TC in 2021. The design of SYNJECT aims to reduce radiation exposure to surgeons during cement injection and allows for remote delivery.
Research has proven that high radiation exposure during spine surgeries can lead to radiation-related illnesses. SYNJECT addresses this issue by incorporating a remote delivery system, minimizing radiation exposure from back-scattered x-rays. SYNJECT CDS enables the application of high-viscosity PMMA bone cement in a controlled manner, with the ability to stop cement flow immediately when needed. The optional dual line injection system is particularly beneficial for bi-pedicular cement application, as it allows for quick switching between two injection needles within a single device. The color-coded tubes and connectors in the dual line system enhance ease of use and reduce confusion. Both, the pressure and tactile feedback of the system were rated very positive by all physicians during the design validation stage.
